Joe's diverse background in materials, mechanics, forensics, and instrumental analysis enable him to solve many technological problems. With six patents and over 45 published papers in the areas of fracture mechanics, dielectric failure of high voltage insulation, and pharmaceutical packaging, he is widely recognized as an expert in many areas. He has taught forensic science courses at two universities and for several state agencies. Joe retains a consulting role with the State of Connecticut as a forensics expert.

Prior to forming Mantis Associates, Joe was Vice President at Altran Corporation. This Boston based consulting firm is well respected by many in industry. While there, he managed the formation of the materials engineering laboratory that specialized in failure analysis, industrial troubleshooting, and product development.

Joe started his professional career at the University of Connecticut's Institute of Materials Science. In his 19 years there he held a range of positions including: Manager of the Materials Science Microscopy and Microchemistry Facility, Instructor in the Chemistry Department, and Associate Director of the Electrical Insulation Research Center.
